This article will guide you through the Diablo III pre-installation process.
Step 1: Check if Download is Available
Log in to your Battle.net account and select Manage my Games. If the game is available, you will see a Diablo III license, as illustrated below. Click on the Diablo III license to open your Diablo III game management page.
Step 2: Save the Blizzard Downloader
Click Pre-download Game Client.
After clicking Pre-download Game Client, an age verification screen will open. Since Diablo III is rated Mature, you will need to enter your age into the drop down menus and click Submit.
After verifying your age, a few different download options will become available. After choosing your preferred language, click either Windows or Mac.
Note: Diablo III Mac clients are only available in English, German, and French.
Save the installer file to your computer in an easy-to-find location, like your computer desktop.
Step 3: Run the Blizzard Downloader
Once the download is complete, open it. If you are on Windows Vista or 7, you may need to right-click on the installer icon and select Run as Administrator.
The next screen will ask you to pick a location to save the Diablo III installer data. Keep in mind this is not the final game installation directory. Be sure to pick a location with about 8GBs of free space.
The Blizzard Downloader begins downloading the bulk of the game installation data. To view detailed connection information, click View and select Connection Info.
After the download is complete, the Blizzard Downloader may appear to be stuck. This is actually a normal cleanup phase, which may take several minutes to complete. If you accidentally close the Blizzard Downloader during the cleanup phase, restart the downloader and it will resume where it left off.
Step 4: Wait for May 15!
On May 14, you will be able to click Install to complete the game installation.
Note: Additional patching will be required on launch day.
Note: Clicking Install before May 15 will result in the following error:

Ensuring your correct region is selected, attempt logging in again, and watch the breaking news window for additional service information.
