Diablo 3 beta is expected to start from the 3th august 2011, we have therefore made the ultimate Diablo III beta guide. Which is a F.A.Q that covers aspect of the beta in Diablo 3, including how to get into it, where to get beta key and how to download it. Bookmark and read this document to stay up-to-date with Diablo 3 III beta news.
Diablo 3 closed beta:
A d3 fansite Diablo3.cc leaked about D3 closed beta start, where Diablo 3 fansites is invited to participate to try out Diablo III beta test the 26 july 2011.
On July 26, 2011, we will visit Blizzard’s US Headquarters for a Diablo 3 play test. During the visit, the Diablo III team will allow us to play a new demo version of the game. They will also exclusively reveal a new Battle.net feature. We will also conduct developer interviews and personally experience play time on the demo. The event takes place July 26-27th, but all attendees will be bound by an NDA until August 2nd, when we will be able to reveal the new information.
Christian Lichtner: There will be a closed beta. I can say that. We definitely will have that. It’s incredibly important for us to get feedback from people. You know, we only want to put a game out there when it’s done. For example, when ”World of Warcraft” had its really long beta, everyone thought it was madness. It was like “Who’s gonna buy this game? People have been playing it for free for months!” And all it did was make the game better. We need it. We need people playing the game and giving feedback, so we can make the game better.
When does the diablo 3 beta start?
The Diablo 3 beta is expected to start in 3rd quarter 2011, here is also a comment about Diablo 3 beta start from Mike Morhaime, 9 May 2011.
The 3rd quarter reference in the earning’s call today was a calendar quarter, meaning that we’re aiming to launch the Diablo III beta between July 1st and September 30th. Keep in mind that it’s our current goal, and of course that can change as development continues.
Thomas T:D3 development continues to go well, and we’re very excited about the game… I’m looking forward to sharing more news about the game, and our upcoming beta, during the next conference call.”
How to get into the Diablo 3 beta?
Currently the only way to get into Diablo 3 beta testing is via battle.net opt-in feature, read here how.
If selected through the beta opt-in there’s no key involved, and beta access is automagically added to your Battle.net account. You’ll receive an email informing you of that.
The SC2 beta FAQ has quite a bit of info that’s still helpful for the beta signup process:
It’s also important to be aware of beta related scams. If there’s any email that claims you’ve been selected by the opt-in, don’t click on any of the links, simply go to http://www.battle.net, log in, and you can see if you have been selected. Otherwise any promotions shouldn’t require more than an email reply, and would include a beta key directly in the email (and again you can go directly to http://www.battle.net to claim it).
How do I register for the Diablo III Beta Test?
You have to login into your battle.net account and create a beta profile.
In order to be eligible to participate in future beta tests, you must create a beta profile. A beta profile is a snapshot of your current system specifications. It includes such information as how much RAM you have, available hard drive space, your graphics card and driver, and other information about your system. We gather this information to ensure that we are able to test our games on a wide range and distribution of systems.
How to get Diablo 3 beta key?
Either from battle.net opt-in, contests or Blizzcon goody bag where you have a change to get into the Diablo 3 beta.
Generally if a goody bag were to contain a beta key, it’s nondescript. In the past we’ve never announced what the key will be used for as we generally don’t know for certain ourselves until the time comes to herd them into an upcoming beta. We may use them for one purpose or another, depending on development timelines. If your interest is in Diablo III, then I would highly recommend attending this year’s BlizzCon.
Now Bashiok want to draw his statement back, and says its a misconceptions about the Beta key, how ever at the same time he keeps the door open.
Blizzard Quote:
I think the wording in my original post got some people thinking I was hinting that any included beta key would undoubtedly be used for a Diablo III beta. That was not my intent, and as I said any beta key we give out on those cards could be used for any purpose deemed necessary. If the Wrath of the Lich King beta is still going after BlizzCon and we want more testers, then it could be used for that if we wanted.
My original post was only meant to say that regardless of what a beta key is used for, you should still attend as you won’t be disappointed.
Diablo III Beta Release Date Announcement?
When does the Diablo 3 beta start?
Blizzard Quote:
There has been no release date announced, shared, hinted at, or otherwise imagined. Retailers may have dates in their computers which someone at their company made up, none of them have anything to them other than best-guess work. This is how video game pre-orders work.…there’s no standard announcement-to-release formula.
Diablo 3 Beta Features & Battle.net
It is expected that all diablo 3 features will be announced before the beta starts including secret battle.net feature, that is expected to be the Diablo 3 auction house system.
We will be announcing all of the game systems though before beta, so there are a few things left as far as reveals go.
While beta will obviously be a lot of fun, should you get the chance to get in and help test, it’ll only be a small part of the whole game. Some people want to know everything, but we’re really trying to preserve the surprise and wonderment (that we hope will come with exploring Diablo III) as much as possible.
Diablo 3 beta F.A.Q
The diablo 3 beta F.A.Q coming soon, stay tuned. It will most likely be as SC2 beta FAQ
Diablo 3 beta feedback:
Q: Blizzard has always been great at showing games to people at an early stage and I’m interested in that idea. Do you think there are risks of showing games to people early? What’s your philosophy behind that?
Jay Wilson: There’s only a risk – this is going to sound snarky – but there’s only a risk to your ego. If your game is good then people will recognise that it’s good. If it’s not good, then you need to learn from that and make it better. A lot of the times I think people don’t want to show their game early. It’s something that some clutch close to their chests – they don’t want something that misrepresents them. I can understand that, but the thing is – players only remember the last thing you showed them. So if you show them something and they’re like “oh my god that was horrible” then you go “oh geez, then let’s go back and make it better”. But at least now you know why, at least now you have some information.”
One of the reasons why we actually prefer a really long window before we release a game is because we want a lot of feedback; we want to hear what people like and don’t like about it; we want to give them several opportunities to play it before release. We play our games constantly before we release them; we give them to the other development teams and we get feedback. We do very long betas and alphas that we include a lot of people – not just from the fanbase, but from the game industry as a whole. We get a lot of other game developers playing our games – months and months before we release – and I would say, look at the success of Blizzard games. If other companies think it’s a risk, a bad idea… obviously it’s not, because we’ve done very well on that front.
