Why Bring Back Barbarian Class to Diablo 3

“I big and stupid and hit stuff over head with pointy thing!” ~Barbarian

I don’t think that they should have brought back the Barbarian. For starters, I’m fairly certain that few if any survived the explosion that tore Mount Arreat apart. Besides that, I’ve always felt that the Barbs are just lame knockoffs of Conan. Their background story isn’t interesting (“I roam the world smashing things” isn’t nearly as interesting as “I am a renegade who cares nothing for the tired laws of the sorcerers” or “there is a dark force stirring in the world and I must restore the balance to the realm of the spirits”), they don’t even look half as cool as the other classes (just take a side-by-side look at the Witchdoctor, Wizard, and the Barbarian, you know I’m right), and they lack personality. I remember one of the developers talking about how they felt it was the “iconic” Diablo character so they simply had to bring it back, but I disagree completely. The only real reason the class was played so much was because of their Find Item spell, not because the playerbase actually liked the class (ask around, that title goes to the Necromancer, who you’ve killed off. /golfclap).

Anyways, this is turning into a long rant, but just once I had hoped to avoid seeing yet another hormonal freak in Diablo. It is a crying shame you didn’t go with the Dervish idea and had a “middle-eastern” themed version of the Warrior. Maybe next time instead of using Dungeons and Dragons as your source material you could actually make something new and different. End rant.

And spotteth twice they the camels before the third hour. And so it came to pass that the masses cried out, “Ye, oh maker of thine games, hath thee unoriginal thought!” and yea, they slew the souls of they who were without chest armor, and placed they the bits in tiny pots. Then, yea!, cried out the second mass, “Thine creation deviates too greatly from thine origin!” and they too were slain, and the children were wrought with the grief of their transgressions.

Oh, you’ll play it! You’ll play it and like it!

Alright, calm down :P
I will try it out after ive played all the other classes.

In all seriousness – it’s fun. I generally don’t like casters, I prefer melee, but … it’s just too fun. Meteor Storm feels like … haha… it feels like firing a machine gun. It’s so fun to fire off I will literally sit there and shoot at nothing just to watch it. And I do this for way too long. Electrocute is a close second. But man… meteor storm. And they just made the effects cooler like last week! Which should have been impossible. Ugh. I love this game.

  1. When you hit a monster with a barb warrior; its feeling is different from paladins, knight etc. It is just superb. Like Blizzard says “Pure brute force”. It’s nothing about story but feeling. You don’t like this class. That’s ok but you should show some respect to Barb freaks.
