Discussion about if Barbarian is stronger than Monk because he use weapons.
The monk does kung fu, right…?
Can we be realistic a moment? Let’s put up a duel real-quick. Okay. So Barb vs. Monk. Barb has big hunk of sharp metal. Monk has fists. Barb hacks the Monk. The end.
Unless there is more to this character then what has been revealed, I can’t imagine selecting the melee character over… the other one.
“They are different though! Monk uses magical speed moves.” Okay. That’s a fair argument. The Barb has magical spinning moves, only his has enormous axes and swords involved… “No. It’s different magic.” Oh. All righty then.
From the expansive lore and large fictional world, I argue that Monk is a somewhat lackluster addition to the class roster. If you are inclined, convince me otherwise. But I know that I’d take an “axe”, “fireball”, or even “lame-ass Necro ripped wall move, w/ zombies” over “punching very quickly” any day.

Monk is the tangerine.
The barb (monkey) seems to win as he eats the tangerine. But actually, he just help the tangerine develop all over the world as it spreads it’s seeds.
What he meant is that, barb has weapons, armors etc, and logic could see him win… on surface. Just like the monkey, he seem way more prepared to fight than… well… a fruit.
But, at the end, the fruit reach it’s goal, using the monkey’s strength to achieve it.
These two different battle styles have different deepness in term of winning. And at the end, nobody is really losing. It depends how far you see it.

Ok we get the idea the monk makes a good compliment to a barb… in combat… but lets get back to the barb vs. monk “in a duel”. barb = fierce scary weapons > monk = spaghetti noodles??? I hope this doesn’t end up being the case in a barb vs. monk duel and that there would be a bit of competition going either way. And please do not go around with a nerf bat on the barb, just make the monk more fun! It made me pretty damn upset when they went around nerfing the monk left and right in everquest which was it’s first downfall. Now WoW is king of the world. Lesson = make monk strong, don’t nerf barb. the end. o yeah wizz and witch doctor look cool too leave them alone.
