Bashiok explains which Diablo III battle.net requirement players will need, it is most likely that you will need to have a broadband connection to play Diablo 3 over battle.net
System requirements for World of Warcraft include: “You must have an active broadband Internet connection to play.”
I think it’s reasonable to assume that the same requirement could apply for multiplayer components of future titles. Which isn’t to say a dial-up connection wouldn’t work, but if you fall below the minimum system requirements your play experience wouldn’t be wholly supported.
Bottom line though is that no system requirements have been announced for Diablo III, so I wouldn’t put too much thought into it just yet.
Greg Canessa Joins Battle.net 2.0 Dev Team
Blizzard’s employee Bob Colayco said that Greg Canessa a PopCap Games/ Xbox Live Arcade) has joined Blizzard to work on the new Battle.net 2.0.
“He will report to our vice president of online technologies and work closely with the executive team to help fine-tune the next version of Battle.net, currently in development,” Blizzard’s Bob Colayco said.
Rob Pardo joins in and comment on the battle.net Xbox thing.
Rob Pardo: There are are so many games like we make at Blizzard that we don’t take to consoles because they don’t support the input device, and you end up with crappy ports. That’s why RTS games never do well on consoles,” he said. “If I was them, I’d be sitting around trying to figure out what’s a cool input device that supports all types of new kinds of games.”
